Knowing what to do
There are several ways that personal responsibility could be defined. The way I would describe personal responsibility is taking action or punishment for something that has been done that might have been wrong. Also I would describe it as not putting the blame on another person or even relying on a person to do something that he or she said they would do for another person.
An example or a situation that shows taking personal responsibility is simply doing the dishes after eating dinner or what ever meal that has been ate. When being a teenager or almost one, the child should be able to take care of their own dishes. By rinsing of the dish and putting it in the dishwasher or simply whereever it goes. Without taking personal responsibility for the action taken the plates could possibly turn moldy if nothing gets done.
Knowing whether or not to take some responsibility in the situation mainly can be told by what the situation is. In the example given the teenage child would take responsibility if the dishes became moldy because with growing up and becoming an adult the child should not have to still rely on the parent to clean up after them with everything they do. If the child does not learn when growing up they never will when older. This however will also take responsibility on the parent because it is their job to teach and punish the child if he or she does not do what they have been asked to do.
